Judo™ great tool for Whitefly control, including the Q-biotype In the never-ending war on whiteflies, growers now have a great new tool to fight the pesky insects. We introduced Judo™ Miticide/Insecticide last August and it has been performing well against both mites and whiteflies. With a new mode of action, Judo has been an effective tool on all life cycle stages of mites and whiteflies.
As part of rotational strategy, Judo is a great weapon in the never-ending battle for whitefly control on poinsettias. It is also safe to use on poinsettia bracts in color. In addition, extensive testing has shown that Judo controls the Q-biotype whitefly, which has now been documented in 23 states. At a rate of 2-4 fl. oz. per 100 gal., Judo provides up to 28 days control with one spray under light pest pressure. Under heavy pressure, growers may have to increase application frequency. This novel product is extremely translaminar which aids greatly in control of both whiteflies and mites. Judo is a lipid biosynthesis inhibitor and works by upsetting the water balance in the pest, resulting in dessication. This process takes 4 to 10 days although feeding stops after 1-2 days. Judo can be used with an adjuvant to improve coverage and control. It carries a 12-hour REI and “Caution” signal word. Judo comes in 8 fl. oz. bottles. For more information about Judo click here.
