Let's take a look into the crystal ball...OHP working on new products!
As we head into 2007,we realize how critical
it is to continue to bring new products,
new formulations of existing products, and
new technologies into our market.
New products, formulations, and technologies
are simply the lifeblood of our business.
With that in mind, we are working feverishly
on several “new” products and formulations
that we hope to launch sometime in
the near future. Exact dates are unknown
as the EPA registration process is an
uneven and unpredictable process.
Imidacloprid liquid formulation
We will launch a new liquid formulation of
imidacloprid (the active ingredient that is
in Marathon®) and cyfluthrin (the active
ingredient that is in Decathlon®) for quicker
knock down. It will be labeled for the
greenhouse.
Tablets
We are developing a novel form of imidacloprid,
a tablet for container and fieldgrown
nursery operations. A feature of this
product will be long-term residual activity.
Spikes
In the near future, we will launch an imidacloprid-based spike for application in potted
crops like hanging baskets and poinsettias.
The spike will be a thin, oblong
tablet that a grower inserts into the soil.
The novel application method should offer
labor savings, in addition to the long-term
residual control imidacloprid provides.
New insecticide
Further down the road, look for a totally
new insecticide from OHP. It represents a
new class of chemistry and current data
reveals exceptional activity on many of the
insects growers face in the greenhouse
and nursery.We are estimating introduction
in 2009.
Suffusion™ tablets
A technology much closer to the market is
our Suffusion tablet, developed by our
marketing partner AmegA Sciences.
Currently, we market Suffusion Granules and Suffusion Liquid for use as a surfactant
(wetting agent) on media in greenhouse,
nurseries, interior plantscapes, and soil production.
Soon,we will launch a Suffusion tablet,
designed to be used with a hose-end
sprayer-type apparatus. A grower will
place a tablet into the hose-end and be
able to deliver a dose of Suffusion water to
plants.
From a practical aspect, growers can use
the Suffusion tablet just prior to ship to
give the crop added “wetness”and make it
easier to water once at its destination.
A truck driver may use the Suffusion tablet
to water the crop once he has it off the
truck and at his destination. His last activity
would be to water the crop with the
Suffusion tablet.
Finally, a merchandiser at a Big Box retailer
could use the Suffusion tablet to increase
efficiencies of the watering process.
You’ll hear a lot more about the Suffusion
tablets and these other products in the
coming weeks, months,and years.
