Pylon, Pedestal giving good thrips control

Growers continue to seek options for thrips control as many established products aren’t providing the level of control as in the past. Pylon® Miticide/Insecticide and Pedestal® Insecticide from OHP are two of those options. Pylon, originally introduced as a miticide, is now labeled for thrips and is providing good control of the greenhouse pest.

With active ingredient chlorfenapyr, Pylon is active against both larval and adult stages of thrips. Pedestal®, an Insect Growth Regulator (IGR) with active ingredient novaluron, has demonstrated good control of immature stages of thrips as well. As part of a thrips rotational strategy, Pylon and Pedestal are two additional tools in the never-ending fight against the troublesome pest. Both products carry 12-hour REIs and “Caution” signal words and both are part of the OHP “Thrips Cocktail,” written by OHP Senior Technical Manager Dr. Richard Lindquist and Director of Technical Service Jeff Dobbs.
