Due to US EPA's failure to publish a notice of application in the Federal Register for this product in 2006 a Federal District Court in New York ordered that the registration be vacated until EPA corrects its procedural error. OHP and Bayer Environmental Science continue to support Kontos for registration. Bayer is working with EPA to correct EPA's procedural error, and is urging that EPA act as promptly to address this situation. We anticipate that EPA will reaffirm the registrations of Kontos using the correct procedure.
Kontos™ is a new systemic insecticide/miticide from the tetramic acid class of chemistry (MOA Group 23). Kontos can be applied as a foliar spray or drench and controls a number of major sucking insect and mite pests, including Adelgids, aphids, leafhoppers, mealybugs, Psyllids, spider mites, spittlebugs and whiteflies. Kontos is both xylem and phloem active, meaning that the systemic activity moves upward and downward in the treated plants.
