New— Now formulated on the successful Verge® granule!
Marengo® is a pre-emergent granular herbicide that offers long-term residual control of both grassy and broadleaf weeds on ornamentals grown in production nurseries including those grown in-ground and in containers. Marengo G may also be used in ornamental production sites and hardscapes and is labeled for use on landscape fabric, rock surfaces, and gravel beds, and may be used under benches in shade and hoop houses.
With the new active ingredient indaziflam, Marengo G offers long-term control of many hard-to-control broadleaf weeds such as bittercress, groundsel, oxalis, marestail, and spurge. Marengo G also controls tough grassy weeds such as crabgrass and annual bluegrass. Marengo G also demonstrates early post-emergence activity against some weeds, including annual bluegrass, crabgrass, and oxalis.
Marengo G contains the first active ingredient for MOA (Mode of Action) Group 29. The active ingredient prevents weed seed germination by inhibiting cellulose biosynthesis. Marengo G does not move once applied to the soil and does not volatilize.
Marengo G use rates range from 100 to 200 pounds per acre. Current research indicates that 200 pound per acre rate provides the most effective control. Marengo G should be applied to dry foliage. Users should not allow the granules to remain on leaves. For best results, users should water-in Marengo G with at least ¼-inch of water within three (3) days to establish the pre-emergence barrier.
Marengo G may be used to maintain bare ground in non-crop areas, including gravel areas as well as rocky/sandy areas. Apply 200-400 pounds per acre with uniform coverage to target areas.
Marengo G may be used in production facilities such as hoop houses, lath houses, and shade houses to provide bare ground and general weed control to all areas where weeds grow including beneath benches. Users should make applications to these sites during clean-up, sanitation, and preparation prior to plant production. Use rates are 200 pounds per acre or 4.6 pounds per 1,000 sq. ft. target area.
Production ornamentals, shadehouses, hoop houses and hardscapes
Marengo has shown excellent plant tolerance on a wide variety of ornamentals. Please consult the label for a full list. If a cultivar is not listed on the label, users should treat several plants at the single maximum desired use rate and evaluate 1 to 2 months later for possible injury and acceptable tolerance.
